Evox: Hair Rejuvenation Therapy
Last week I was invited to Scar Hair to experience a new technology called Evox by Evolution Keratin. I have been doing my hair at Scar since I moved to Cape Town. I remember tweeting out in a #Twoogle (Asking a question and your Twitter followers act as your own personal Google) kind of way, to find out who was the best to look after my locks. A resounding: "Scar Hair" came out and I've never looked further.
Flo, my brilliantly talented hairdresser with a lush Romanian accent, has looked after me and given me hair advice.
Flo is like my Johannesburg stylist, Lindsay-Jade Calvert. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
I've been trying to get my hair to grow, which is quite a miracle considering I'm awful to it with highlights, heat and other abuse.
I've listened to his advice - a follow on from Lindsay's great advice, used the shampoos and conditioners and also tried my own remedies/research (coconut oil, for one, but I'll leave that for another post) and finally my hair is starting to grow.
The aim is still to have mermaid hair. Mermaid hair, to me, is hair that covers my boobs. We are getting there s-l-o-w-l-y but surely.
Flo called me to tell me that there was a new technology coming and it would be perfect for my hair. He asked if I'd like to be the hair model for it. Um... is this a trick question?
I arrived at Scar, met all the fabulous people there, grabbed a drink, had my hair washed and then sank into my chair ready to discover what everyone was so excited about.
Evolution Keratin has developed a never before experienced, groundbreaking Hair Smoothing Therapy System. It's driven by natural Argan Oil, vitamins and proteins that penetrate deep into the hair fibre to restore damaged, deteriorated hair to it's natural state without resorting to harmful chemicals.
It is the first product in the hair industry to use Fibroblast (critical in wound healing) for extensive hair rejuvenation and has a new anti-ageing formula using bio engineering techniques.
They remove the cylinders needed and heat them up until the frozen white treatment is clear liquid.
Then Flo squirted the treatment into water and started mixing it until it was almost gel-like.
They started applying the treatment in sections until every hair on my head was coated.
Cling wrap time... I sat with my cling wrap turban under the warmer for 15 minutes.
Once the 15 minutes were up, I was taken to the basin where ice cold water was applied very quickly (thankfully very quickly - it was a tiny shock after being toasty under the warmer.)
The product works in being hot and cold; hot and cold a few times over.
After that, I came back for a blow dry & iron.
Kim from Evox mentioned that the stylist below looks like Renee Zellweger. I never saw it until she pointed it out and now I can't believe I missed it. Brilliant.
Feeling pampered and fussed over with many hands working their magic.
My hair felt so soft, I'm sure my hair went back to how it was when I was a little girl. It's so silky and shiny, which is always a bit difficult to get in blondes.
I must also say I was shocked to see how long my hair is at the back. I've been trying to grow out my layers to one length. The sides are still shorter than the back, so that's what I always see framing my face. I'm thrilled to see the length at the back. We are getting there. Hooray!
This Evox Liquid Plasma is an absolute must. I have to apply it every few days to keep the treatment working.
I was told that my hair would feel even softer and better after the second wash.
Update: I've now washed my hair twice since having the treatment and my hair feels incredible.
I'll definitely be doing this treatment again (and again.)
